Why Do Lions Have Sharp Claws?

Lions have sharp claws for a few reasons...:
1. To grip the ground when running
2. To grip trees so they can climb
3. To rip open their prey
4. To pin there prey to the ground

just think of them as BIG cats... They need them for pretty much al the same reasons. And they are retractable too :D

Yes,lions have to sharp there claws because if a meat come they will have to kill it with its claws to kill the animal to eat it like a leopard.

To pin their prey to the ground , or tear through its flesh , and to grip on tree trunks if they are climbing , and last but not least , for protection.
