I've tried my hamster on Strawberries and Apples so far. He loves the strawberries, I usually give him 2 once a week, 1 cut up and one whole he is so cute when he's eating the whole one. He doesn't like apples though, he never eats them.

As for what they can eat (Fruit, Veg and Herb)

Alfafa
Apple (seedless)
Asparagus
Avocado (skinned and seedless)
Banana
Basil
Blackberries
Blueberries
Broccoli
Brussel Sprouts - small amounts occasionally - not all hamsters like the strong taste
Calabrese
Cabbage - should only be fed in small amounts occasionally as too much can cause health problems
Carrots
Cauliflower leaves and stalks
Celery
Cherries - stones should be removed as they can be dangerous if gnawed
Chestnuts
Chicory
Chinese Leaves
Coriander
Corn-on-the-Cob
Corn Salad
Courgettes
Cranberries
Cress
Cucumber
Curly Kale
Dates
Endive
Fenugreek
Feijoa
Figs
Grapes
Green beans
Kale - should only be fed in small amounts occasionally as too much can cause health problems
Kidney Beans (cooked)
Kiwi Fruit
Kumquat
Lettuce - small amounts occasionally - in excess it can cause liver problems
Logan Berries
Lychee
Mange Tout
Mango
Marrow
Melon
Mint
Mung
Okra
Pak Choy
Papaya
Parsley - a good tonic
Peach
Pear
Peas
Plums - stones should be removed as can be dangerous when gnawed
Potato (cooked)
Raspberries
Raspberry Plant leaves - beneficial for diarrhoea
Rhubarb (cooked)
Rocket Chard
Sage
Sorrel
Squash
Star Fruit
Strawberries
Sugar Cane - small amounts
Sweet Potato
Soybean Sprouts
Swede
Sweetcorn
Sweet Peppers
Ugli Fruit

I just recently got a teddy bear hamster so this really helped, thank you! Also, they cannot have watermelon (it causes diarrhea) or avocado. But they CAN have sunflower seeds. Mine loves them, only the insides though.

They love acorns and corn pellets, I wouldn't give it corn on the cob because they could get it stuck in their tiny throats.

I wonder if they eat cheese...
Well can they?
Anyways I gave the hamster a carrot and it stuffed them up its cheeks... Can it digest them through the cheeks?   Is that considered eating or storing up for use later?...hmmm do any of you have the answer?

They can eat mild cheese but in moderation. And it's normal for them to stuff food in their cheeks- it's kinda of their way of "storing" it for later.

I scraped my knee and peeled a huge piece of flapping skin off. I flicked it into the hamster cage and was delighted to see my pet hammy zeus casually nibbling away at it. After about 3minutes zeus had consumed his net bodyweight twice over in human flesh. From then on I have willingly filleted the soft skin on the back of my leg bi-weekly and fed it to his yearning mouth
