I want a hamster too!!!! My dad is trying his best to convince my mom but she is not giving in. I am going to make a power point that includes the expenses, cute pics and lots of info. I added all the prices together and its going to be $65.00 and I can pay for it with $45.00 left over!!!! My mom says she is going to end up taking care of it like the last one but I'm mean I was like five when I had my first one!!! And I'm much older and more responsible!!!

Hi,
I really want a hamster too!  My best and most effective method (so far) is to...
I have a cat, and my cat has toy mice.  So what I did was I took a box, and filled it with some shredded paper, then what I did was took a little bowl and put some more shredded paper in it with colors drawn all over it (representing the food).  I put some cute accessories in it like a bouncy ball, a toilet paper roll, and a egg carten.  I used a peek-a-pooh's container for it's run about ball, then, I told my parents that if I could take care of the fake hamster (taking out the sheddings two times a week, refilling its bowl, pretending to wash it's cage, and putting it in its run-about-ball for a hour everyday) that by the end of two months, I could get a hamster, and they actually agreed! But make sure you make the fake cage before you make a deal with them, because even if they say "NO" to the deal, you can still work on taking care of it, and that will show them that you really do want a hamster, and they might end up sayign yes!
Well, I really hope this works for you,
Also, if you want to know the cost for everything, I payed 108 dollars for EVERYTHING.
Good Luck! =D

If they say maybe then don't bug them about it. Let your parents talk about it. My mom said maybe and that she would talk to my dad. The whole cost of the hamster, cage, toys, ext. Are at least $50.00 I have $60.00 and I said that I could pay for it myself.

I'm having the same problem! I have 4 dogs, Including my own, My own PUPPY! Its a lot of work... And that proves I'm resposible. My bad habit is NOT locking the doors... We live on a farm... WHOS GANNA COME AND STEAL OUR JUNK?! But my Mom yells at me when I don't... So I'm starting to make it a game. Brake a bad habit... Be resposible... And most importantly... Don't beg. Say you want one for Christmas... And say nothing eles. Or your birthday...

Good luck dude...

Show them you are responsible, firstly, with the cost of food and care, and read up on them so you better understand how to care for them.  This will show your parents you are genuine in your request

Same with me I've been asking for three and a half years! And the same answer keeps popping up NO!! So what I've been doing is ok 1 make a power point
2 if you go on vacations find some one to watch it
3 beg and beg and beg
4 get a stuffed one take care of it
5 leave signs and drop hints
6 be responsible and if you can have your parents meet one
7 just be over the top do extra things keep your room clean and say you will pay for everything! Hope this helps I recently started using this plan and we've gone from NO to Maybe! :)

I suspect it is your level of maturity they are concerned about.  They may be fearful that you will get the hamster, love it for awhile and in the end it will be one of them who will be forced to take care of it.  You can overcome this objection by showing how grown up you are by doing things that you know would please your parents without being told.  A good example might be for you to give your room a good cleaning and keep it clean for 4 weeks.  Another way to prove that you are responsible is do to some nice things for your Mom without being told, such as: Taking out the garbage and setting and clearing the table after you eat.  If you are allowed, put the dishes in the dishwasher without being asked.  Dust the den for Mom.  When school starts do your homework every day without being told.  Do all of these things for 4 weeks and then ask again.  You may very well get a different answer when you prove you are capable of taking care of things and people and that you are willing to help out the ones you love and that love you.

To convince your parents to let you get a hamster show them you are responsible, if you are behind in school catch up wit work, get better grades, keep your room clean, or break a bad habit. That should convince them. :-)

Go on the internet and show them how much you know about them
maybe make a powerpoint
or
pretend you have one in a tub and pretend to "feed" it and "play" with it

I want one too. I had 2 hermit crabs that passed away like with in a week of eachother. I have been trying to get one for 2 monthes and my mom said that when another animal passes, we could talk about it, well 2 passed and now her excuse is that 3 dogs and 1 cat stresses them out, but I am the one that takes care of them and everything. My dogs are cute and love me and I love them, but my cate HATES me, I still take care of him. If I can take care of 3 dogs then I can take can take of a hamster. SO I kept asking and looking them up and it went to a heke no, to a no, to a mabe, to an ask your father, but now I just have to work on my dad. Usually, he is harder then her, but I have a felling that he will soon give in with all the things I will offer to do.

Ask them to give you a trial period, and if YOU look after it for a month say,and everything is good, you'll be allowed to keep it.
However, if you don't keep to the bargain,YOU'LL find it a good home

I got the same prolem but my mum wont let my coz they are rodents I can pay for it, I look after, I can make sure it doesnt smell,I can do all that but I can't change that fact about them so I'm stuffed! But if it isn't the fact that their rodents then try saying that you can do all that and that they wont have to do anything at all then that might work

good luck
