Yep. It happened to me. My family has had cats for most of my life but when I was about 45, I developed an allergy to them. I'm OK to be around them but if I touch a cat, my eyes water and I become all stuffed up.

Yes! You can develop an allergy at any point. For example, my mum didn't used to suffer with hayfever until a few years ago, and now she suffers with it every year, whereas pollen had no effect on her before
I developed an allergy to cats🐺 when I first saw one. They look at me, I look at them and we both turn and go our separate way🐾.
I solved any problem like that many years ago by just not having any cats. My daughter brought one home once when she was little and we all had that same problem. Got rid of the cat and it never happened again. Never had that problem with dogs.
