My mini yorkie puppy gets hiccups several times a day, not always after eating or being excited, could that be a problem?
What Causes Hiccups In Puppy?
All animals including humans and dogs can get hiccups. Hiccups occur due to spasm in the diaphragm. Off and on hiccup in dogs is not a matter of great concern. It is self treated after few minutes. It can be due to eating quickly or minor gastrointestinal problem. Prolonged episodes of hiccups can be sign of some serious illness and requires vet visit immediately. Hiccups should be differentiated from coughing and choking.
