There are many signs that a dog show if in pain. These signs are shaking or shivering, restlessness, loss of appetite, whining, reduced activities, loss of interest in walk, exercise or play.

Nose licking and whining can be due to stress. If your dog is having only nose licking and whining without any other signs of illness then he is in stress. Otherwise, he is in pain. You should take care of your dog by giving him proper food, toys, regular walk, and exercise. If your dog is also showing some other signs of illness then take him to vet for proper diagnosis and treatment.

My dog has been whining for 2 days.  He won't let me touch his hips.  And his nose is dry. What could be wrong?
