Why on earth would you want to kill such beautiful animals?! Hunting is cruel and I cant understand for the life of me why anyone would want to be essentially a murderer. There is no real purpose to killing it and killing for sport is awful.

Not legally, it's way too small and can either just wound the deer or lead to extreme pain and suffering. Especially if it's from a distance, like usual, it'd be very unlikely to get a good shot. My brother and I have gotten our deer with a 30-06 and that's what I've been using this season also. You can get squirrels and rabbits with a 22. However, that is an unethical gun to kill a deer. In most places, it is illegal also. The minimum in most places you can use is a .243, but I'd personally go with a 30-06.
