It is illegal to keep owls without special permits in most countries. Some countries issue permits to individuals to keep owls after necessary training and proper facilities have been built. The United States does not allow private individuals to keep native owls as pets.

It seems to be more of an outside animal. I would call Petco and see if they can find out anything.

Hi,

as I can see from the picture you posted, that owl looks pretty much grown up. It is extremely hard to keep an owl as a pet, because even though they are beautiful they can be very noisy, require a special diet, a large place to live and will need a lot of your time and attention.

Also, do keep in mind that owls are considered predators (which is different if you take into consideration common "pets" like dogs or cats) and can be dangerous if not treated with care.

I suggest you build a space big enough for the owl to be comfortable. Like this one:

Here is a pdf with more info about it.

Also, you can look at this page for frequently asked questions about owl care.

However, as Naomi said, there are different regulations regarding owls ownership. In the US and Australia is illegal to own one unless you have special permits or licenses. Do keep yourself informed to avoid any troubles.

I suggest you to read as much as you can about owls and also to contact a specialist or an organization in your country or region that deals with wildlife. Owl are delicate creatures and deserve respect and delicacy.

I hope you'll be able to find something that works well for you and the owl!
