What kind of snake is Kaa? Well according to the Jungle Book, he is an Indian rock python.
Rudyard Kipling depcits Kaa in his "Mowgli" stories. He is considered a mentor to Mowgli and, along with Baloo and Bagheera, he is a companion and friend to the man-cub lost in the jungle.
Although Kaa is calm in temperament and doesn't seem to be a threat to Mowgli, all the other animals treat him with respect.
He shows that he's not to be messed with when he demonstrates his powers of hypnosis.
