Yes you can keep different breeds together. I have five different types of hens and a different breed of rooster. The rooster will mate with any hen available. He won't care. The offspring will look different if allowed to hatch.

The chicks might be different. They may look like a mixture of the two. Or they may look like the hen, you just never know.
