Puppies sleep about 14 to 18 hours a day on average. It is a concern if they are lethargic, depressed, non-responsive, not playful and bright eyed and bushy tailed when awake or don't want to wake up or aren't acting normally. You want normal sleep and not something seems very wrong sleep.
With a Yorkie (and other small breed) puppy you would also want to watch out for hypoglycemia and make sure you are monitoring and taking the proper preventative steps and that can happen quickly. Make sure your pup is eating enough and you have nutri-stat or nutri-cal and are monitoring for and doing what you can for prevention. The smaller they are the more trouble they tend to have and is a big concern in extremely tiny puppies.
