I have noticed that some breeds are more prone to do so such as the Pug. Just a stern reenforcement such as the AHHHHH!!!! Noise when they are caught in the stinky breath causing act should work. It will take a few times. I use that noise for anything I don't want my dog to do. They learn quick. Gook luck and don't let the dog kiss you for a while.
My dog did the same thing. She is a 7 month old lhasa apso. What you do is go to a grocery store like wal-mart, Go to the meat spices and stuff. Find a tenderizer that say meat tenderizer. When it is time to feed your dog (which only use if you use wet dog food) sprinkle a little on your dogs food. Keep doing that for a while. It depends. If it is an outside dog, than do what kaynic said. If it is an inside dog, than every time you take it outside, watch it. If he poops, than put vinagar on it and watch him. If he poos some more do the same thing. Hope it helps

They eat it because it still smells like food to them as foods high in proteins don't digest well and what went in smells the same to them as what came out.
