Elephants live together in families or groups, often following a wise experienced female, also known as a matriarch. Male elephants thirteen and younger are included in these groups, but encouraged to leave. Males often have their own "packs". Babies drink milk from their mothers for up to four years. They look after their young longer than any other animals. (besides humans)
