You need 2 feed him by how much he weight if he is 3lbs you need to feed him 1/4 cup a day if his 15lbs you need 2 feed him 3/4 cups . As for the itching try some oatmeal shampoo you can find it at petsmart also make sure there is no flea's the puppy could have a allergy

I know this sounds crazy but try some Murphy's oil soap while bathing your puppy instead of shampoo.  Use just like shampoo.  I have 2 Japanese Akitas and when I got them, the people I bought them from recommended me to use it because akitas are known to have extremely dry skin and they will scratch and scratch.  Well I live by Murphy's oil soap now, I wouldn't use anything else.  My dogs never scratch anymore it's a lifesaver.  Hope this helps.

We had same problem with our 8week puppy, He needed to poo immediately after being fed, light coloured stools several times a day, itching like mad, dry skin, fur coming out with scratching. Went to pet shop for some food for dogs with allergies. Spoke to assistant in shop who had same problem with his dog, after spending £3,000 on vet bills for steroid creams & tablets, antibiotics etc etc, after no improvement , he changed his food to higher meat content all his problems cleared up.We changed from beta pup (which the breeder had being feeding pups on) to Pets at Home own brand, with a higher meat content 24%, also wheat free. His condition improved straight away, after 1week his skin was better, coat grew back.We have 2 border terriers 4yr old, puppy now 3mth old, their feed now consists of 50% cooked fresh meat, 50% of the above brand for puppy and equivalent for our adult dog.We have seen an improvement in our older dogs teeth and coat, less shedding of hair. AFTER ALL DOGS ARE CARNIVORE!

Your dog may have flea allergies, or other allergies, or just have dry skin. Try an oatmeal shampoo and a liquid called hot-spot, if this doesn't help I would consult your veterinarian. You can also find pet products cheap and without a prescription at pets-megastore.com.

Your best to stay away from things like beta puppy.  They have no meat content that a dog needs.  The wellbeloved puppy pouches are good and the nature menu food because the meat content is much higher.  The dried foods on their own are not what I would recommend for your pup.  I have a border terrier who is 3 now and thrives on the nature menu foods or nature diet foods.  Look at the label yourself and you will see the meat content compared to the beta puppy foods.  Definately change him onto one of the better ones.  His coat is top class and just recently been hand stripped and the groomer said best coat he has ever seen on a border.

Vets believe that it can be only controlled through the long term treatment without drugs. You can use an Elizbethan collar to prevent the puppy from entering the area where fleas are present. Vacuum the place of the puppy if it has carpet. Also use Insecticide or herbal flea washes and pest control sprays. Even if the puppy does not have fleas this treatment is necessary.
