Same thing happened to my 7 yr old male cat.  Took him to the vet, and I was told he had been poisoned.  Either by a rat poison or anti-freeze.  Labs revealed he had an irritated liver.  He spent 5 days with IV therapy, & antibiotics.  Can home one sick cat.  But ate on his own, drank, too.  Had trouble walking, would fall over if he tried to jump.  Now, 10 days later, he walks, jumps (some), and is on his way back to being himself.  The vet put him on liver enzymes, too.  Oh, his gum's are no longer yellow.  He's a great cat.  I'm happy to have him in the family.

My cat had the same thing. She had yellow gums, teeth lost wait and was throwing up a lot. She had liver disses and got put to sleep because her muscul mass in her legs had all gone. Please get your cats liver cheaked. Don't let the same thing happen to you.

If I'm not mistaken I think that yellow gums can indicate a problem with your cats liver.  Might also be some type of red blood cell issue as well?  It's certainly not normal and I would consider getting your cat the vet pronto!

I'm taking mine to the vet tomorrow. I adopted a dog two weeks ago and she started acting weird right after. I figured it was just because a dog in "her" house. She's been off her food just wanting water. Last night she started sneezing and now I see her gums are yellow, which means she is seriously sick.
If I somehow brought FIV into the house from the shelter I'll never forgive myself.
