Thanks Shimmer; I was wondering what the symptoms of being allergic to dogs are. All I have is the rash and itchy skin.

I do believe you have a case of hives...I get the same thing as I am allergic to cats...take Benadryl pills and put some Calamine lotion on...if you find it difficult to breathe, that means it has spread internally to your windpipe...go to the doctor asap if that happens and good luck to you!

Really?! Do they ever last a long time... like I'm at over three weeks with this now. Nothing seems to give me any relief either. Benadryl just makes me itch in my sleep...oatmeal baths help for about half an hour. All the creams and lotions do no good. I actually sprayed sore throat spray on my legs and back last night!! It helped a little to make the insane itching stop for a while.

Well my husband and I have an english bulldog, and when my husband plays with the dog he gets the same thing as you bumps all over his arms but his is like a red rash. No matter what he does when he plays with the dog he breaks out. He has to wash the area and puts rubbing alcohol on the bumps. So yes you can be allergic to dogs. Its not to much of a deal if you really love them just wash really good after handling them. Hope that help some what. Oh and he does not sneeze nor have a runny nose

Sounds to me like you could have poison ivy, I have had it before and it itches and its a rash of tiny bumps and it spreads when you scratch it.

Thanks lilmama1; Yes it does sound a bit like poison ivy or oak, but I've not been into any of that. It has lasted for three weeks now. I've ruled out all the things we could think of, like laundry soap; medications; etc... We're stumped and I can't get in with the dermatologist until late July. I may not have any skin left by then...from scratching.

I have exactly the same thing - hives brought on by contact with dogs, certain breeds are worse. The horrible itching sensation makes it so uncomfortable, mine have lasted 3 months and affect me worse in winter - maybe because the dog's hairs can stay on my clothes easier.
