Please take your dog to a vet. Vomiting for more than a day is a good indication that there is a serious problem. If it was your child that was vomiting you wouldn't wait 3 days would you? There are many things that could cause these symptoms, all of which are serious. Parasites, Parvo and Foreign Body Obstruction (ate something he shouldn't have) are a few of the major things that could be going on. All of which a vet visit is NECESSARY.

FYI - the above post said that drinking lots of water and chicken broth helped other dogs fight off the parvo virus - it is incorrect. When a dog has parvo there is nothing you can do to fight the virus itself. (kinda similar to the human flu virus) Once a dog has parvo the best thing is to give them supportive care for dehydration and secondary infections to help prevent other problems from forming while THE DOG itself fights off the virus. You can also give medications to help stop the vomiting and diarrhea. I have been a veterinary technician for 5 years so I have had plenty of experience with parvo puppies. Please take your dog to a vet to find the cause of the vomiting and get him some help. Thank You.

You need to take your dog to a vet. If you can't get your dog to a vet right away, boil chicken and let it cool. Let your dog drink the chicken broth and eat the chicken. Make sure it isn't raw. It sounds like your dog may have parvo or a severe case of worms. I have saves several dogs from parvo by making sure they drink a lot of water and chicken broth. It helps them fight off the virus. Parvo is a nasty stomach virus that eats the lining of the stomach. The dog will stop eating and the stomach will deteriorate that is why the dog will start having blood in the vomit and stool. If you start seeing those sign take him to a vet immediately!! Sorry for spelling.

I thank you very much for this information. My baby (pet) started throwing up whitish phlegm-like substance yesterday. I called his Vet immediately who told me not to feed him anything for three days except boiled chicken and rice. She didn't tell me to give him the chicken broth, but to feed him the actual chicken. She also directed me to give him 1/2 Pepto-Bismol caplet 3 x day for three days; however, I am going to call her back this AM as soon as the hospital opens up because as of this morning, his vomit had blood in it. He is not eating and he will not take the caplet. My son, who is studying to be a nurse thinks it is a virus or bacteria, so just as you are recommending I will be calling my baby's Vet as soon as the office opens and schedule an emergency visit. My baby did drink some water a couple of minutes ago, for which I am thankful since I didn't see him drink any water yesterday. Thank you for your advice.

Your dog is probably hungry and has a empty stomach or it is allergic to some king of food you are feeding him.
