Can A Male Parakeet Lay Eggs?

My male parakeet with blue above his beak have been laying eggs for almost 3 days! I have been watching and he has been in pain w/blood. Can you explain that!?? I thought that ONLY females can lay eggs!!

No. If there are eggs in the nesting box by the supposed male he is not a male because males can't lay eggs. Most likely it is a female. THe way you can tell is that the male will have a bright blue cere (the thing above the beak)and the females will have a crusty red one.

Male parakeets lay eggs too. I have 1 male parakeet and is laying eggs. I have never seen that. I just thought only females were able.???
