Just wanted to share what happened to my hammies that stopped moving but was still breathing slowly...
It has happened few times before over the years to some of my hammies and just this evening when feeding my hammies I found one not moving...usually they all run to me when see me, this one was in the corner I took it in my hand and it was all limb like when I moved it in my hands it didnt try to get up or open eyes.
So since I already had these situations before I took a little pipette and put vitaminjuice inside and put few drops in its mouth ,not too much so it don't choke, keeping in my hand which is warm caressed it and after a while it opened its eyes a bit and tried to bite my finger ,from this I understood it needs bit of meat, I took  piece of ham and he ate it wanting also more....

Many don't know and in the shop they don't tell you but hamsters need meat in their menu not just dry food and not having this can sometimes cause lethargy or even cannibalism among hamsters. When I'm writing this the hammy is seemingly better.

I'm not sure , but if someone could please answer this question. My hamster is doing the same thing the only thing I don't get is that he was fine this morning then my mom told me to change his cage. I did and used the new wood chips and a few hours later my sister noticed the hamsters eyes were shut, it wasn't moving, and it made a nest in a corner and every time we pet him he flinches not like usual. Please help I'm young and don't want my hamster to die.

I am sorry but it sound like it. They don't live that long the average life span is only about 1 to 2 years old. I know this is hard to watch but it sounds like she is not suffering.

This happened to my hamster, it was 2 years and 3 months old. We found it one day, with it's head sticking out it's igloo and looking like it was in pain and moving really really slowly and looking like it was in pain. After that it then started breathing slowly for about a week, we thought it was hibernating a week later so we tried to warm it up, we took the lid off the igloo where it sleeps, normally he would look up at you when you took off the lid, but it didn't it's head was down. We started rubbing it's back to try and warm it up, still breathing slowly. After about 20 minutes it took one really big breathe and squealed a little bit,and thats when it stopped breathing and died. It is either hibernating or dying of old age

My hamster is only about two months old. She has not moved from the same spot for a day so I looked at her and figured she was dead. But then I saw her breath..about every 30 seconds to a minute she takes on deep breath. I don't know if she is dying of if she is hibernating. My room is not that cold..about 60^. I did some research and found that they do hibernate but only when its really cold and its rare for them to do. But I still took her out and put her in a very warm place to try and warm her up. She is still breathing as slow and nothing has happened. I don't know how long to wait. Maybe she is just in the process of dying? I don't want to throw her away if shes not dead though. Gah.
