I had a hamster come into the shelter where I work and it got stuck in its tube, and when we busted the tube open the hamsters tongue was swollen so much it could barely breathe..I think it was going into shock from being stuck in the tube or was losing oxygen while in the tube. Fortunately, at the shelter we have tranquilizer and I gave her a very small amount that slowed her heart rate and when she came out of being tranqued, her heart and breathing had returned to normal. I don't know that there is anything that can be done like that at home. But you could take it to the vet and tell them tranq is what worked for me
