The best advice I can give you is take your dog to the vet. If it is a hernia, the vet should be able to give you a reasonable estimate of the total cost. If your dog requires surgery, it is best to get it done as soon as possible. Just like in a human, hernia's are painful and uncomfortable.

Get the surgery done as soon as possible. It will reduce the amount of pain that your little friend suffers.

Ok, my husband had a hernia and it wasn't painful and his doc told him as long as he can push it back in he's fine, can the same be true for my female chihuahua who has a hernia?  She eats, poops just fine and doesn't vomit.
